As the daughter of a military family, Heather Hickman understands the value of service, sacrifice, and patriotism. Her father proudly served in both the United States Army and Air Force, and Heather continued that tradition by serving in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in 1981.
Today, she remains part of a proud military family, with one son serving in the United States Marine Corps and another who served in the United States Navy. Supporting veterans, active-duty service members, and their families has always been close to her heart.
After several moves throughout her life, Heather and her family returned to South Carolina for the third time and put down permanent roots in 2010.
Following her retirement from Boeing, Heather began looking for new ways to serve her community. Through studying the U.S. Constitution and becoming more involved in civic affairs, she felt called to public service and to helping preserve the freedoms and principles that make America strong.
Heather has been an active member of James Island Baptist Church since 2013, serving in children’s and youth ministries and currently providing technical support to the worship team. She also works part-time at Planet Fitness, where she enjoys staying connected with the community and keeping active.
In 2021, Heather became increasingly concerned about government overreach and its impact on individual freedoms. Since then, she has worked alongside fellow citizens to defend God-given, constitutionally protected rights and advocate for greater accountability in government.
Heather is running for the State House because she believes South Carolina needs leaders who will put citizens first. She is committed to protecting individual liberties, addressing unchecked residential growth by ensuring infrastructure keeps pace, strengthening educational opportunities for students, and easing the tax burden on hardworking South Carolina families.
